Cybersecurity, defined as the practice of protecting systems, networks, and programmes from digital threats, has become a fundamental cornerstone in the information age. As society increasingly relies on technology, the volume of sensitive data stored online is growing exponentially. This data includes personal information such as names, addresses, and credit card numbers, as well as organisational data such as proprietary information, financial records, and customer details. Protecting this data is crucial not only for businesses but for all organisations, including governments, educational institutions, and non-profits.

This handbook is divided into eight parts. The first part is Cybersecurity and it covers the definition of Cybersecurity and the challenges associtated to growing dependence on technology and also the type of informations that are sensitive as well as it’s associated risks.

The second part is Major Cybersecurity Threats, and hightlights the most crucial threats in the world of Cybersecurity, the third part is Cybersecurity Teams, and what roles do the teams represent in organizations. The fourth part is Vulnerability Analysis, and it showcases the definition of the theme and information regarding tools and techniques used by Cybersecurity teams. The fifth part is the Penetrating Test (Pentesting) which is the type of tests that can be done to prevent Cybersecurity attacks. The sixth part is Good Practices on Cybersecurity and showcases a good practices from other organizations whitin the Cybersecurity. The seventh part is Metared, an association that provides a Cybersecurity kit, and last, the eighth part is the Student’s Perspective on Cybersecurity, and it refers to a collaborative work with students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia Production in Education and their vision on Cybersecurity.

The main goal of this handbook is, to provide comprehensive and accessible information on Cybersecurity with a specific focus on educating students and academics. It is also a collaborative work between Portugal and Romania and their contributions to enhance Cybersecurity.
