Is Emeritus Professor at the University of Turku, Finland, where he taught translation and interpreting (1973-2014). Visiting professor at the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University in Kaliningrad (2016-2020); Fellow Researcher at the Kaunas Technological University, Lithuania (2016-2023). Publications on socio-terminology, Translation Studies, audio-visual translation, etc. Involved in European research projects. General Editor (2005-2017) of the Benjamins Translation Library, and on the editorial board of several Journals in TS. Chair of the group of experts in the project EMT/European Master’s in Translation (2007-2010) and member of the EMT Board (2010-2014); Vice president (1993 98) then President (1998 2004) of the European Society for TS/EST.

Este profesor emerit la Universitatea din Turku, Finlanda, unde a predat traducere și interpretare (1973-2014). Profesor invitat la Universitatea Federală Baltică Immanuel Kant din Kaliningrad (2016-2020); cercetător asociat la Universitatea Tehnologică Kaunas, Lituania (2016-2023). Publicații despre socio-terminologie, studii de traducere, traducere audiovizuală etc. Implicat în proiecte de cercetare europene. Redactor general (2005-2017) al Bibliotecii de Traducere Benjamins și membru în comitetul editorial al mai multor reviste din domeniul TS. Președinte al grupului de experți din cadrul proiectului EMT/Master European în Traducere (2007-2010) și membru al Consiliului EMT (2010-2014); Vicepreședinte (1993-1998), apoi președinte (1998-2004) al Societății Europene pentru TS/EST.
