PhD, FSRC, is professor emeritus (Karl Mannheim Professor for Cultural Studies) at Zeppelin University (2004 – 2018) and professor of sociology emeritus, University of Alberta, Canada (Assistant to Professor: 1970-1997). He studiedEconomics, Sociology, Law, Social Policy Fiscal Theory and Policy at the Universities of Cologne, Germany and Oregon, Eugene, OR, USA. After his PhD 1970, he was Professor of Sociology at the Department of Sociology, University of Alberta, Canada (1979-1997), Eric-Voegelin-Professor at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Germany (1984-1985), Paul F. Lazarsfeld Professor, Human- und Sozialwissenschaftliche Fakultät, Universität Vienna, Austria (2002-2003), Alcatel Professor, TH Darmstadt, Germany 2001, between 1977-2023 he held Visiting Professorships at the Universities of Vienna, Free University Berlin, Zürich, Konstanz, Augsburg and Duisburg.
